CASA DO CERDEDO
The «Casa do Cerdedo» brand was created in 2004 to respond, in accordance with the law, to the growing demand for wine produced on the farm of the Vaz family's house, located in Cerdedo, Roussas, Melgaço.
The characteristics of the land and the production method - production under an integrated protection regime (respect for nature), with diversity of the surrounding plants and existing on the farm - do not allow a high production of Kg of grape per ha, but the quality of the product is of upper level. Not by chance, already in 1886, J. A Vieira (in Minho Pittoresco) wrote: “his Barreiros verde wine is precious” - a plot of 0.4 ha that is part of the exploration.
The old methods of manufacture used combined with modern techniques, such as pressing the whole grape and fermentation at controlled temperature, allow the production of a different and unique wine.
The bet is to continue to prove that, even in small areas, you can have a self-sustainable company, friendly to the environment and that contributes to the beautification of the landscape.
