QUINTA DO CARVALHÃO TORTO
With more than a century of existence, Quinta do Carvalão Torto went through several stages, which included the production of different agricultural products. However, the production of Dão wine has always had the most significant weight.
With about seven hectares of vineyards and an average age over 40 years, its vineyards are located in granite/quartzite terrain at an altitude of about 450 meters. The predominant grape varieties that give rise to our Dão wines are: Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Jaen, Alfrocheiro for red wines and Encruzado for white wines.
Through the voice of Luis Oliveira, the producer,"One of our main concerns is environmental sustainability, for this purpose we use natural fertilizers and reduce the use of phytosanitary products to the maximum extent, respecting the norms of integrated protection".
We make a permanent monitoring of the vineyards, only in this way it is possible to produce grapes of high quality, making reference to the proverb "The best wine is born in the vineyard".
Carvalhão Torto is a producer from the Dão region that surely helps to reposition this wine region, with all its historical potential for the natural production of great, elegant and consistent wines.
